HEALING ENVIRONMENTS
FOR VETERANS
The VA provides a full spectrum of medical, surgical and rehabilitative care of our country’s veterans. The VA is embracing the Planetree model of care and in some states it is even being mandated. Why? Because the nation is focusing on the crisis and future of health care in U.S. VA Medical Centers around the country have discovered that Planetree can assist in identifying standards and solutions to veteran-centered care approaches to health care. Within the VA there is a growing belief that patient-centered approaches to care are critical to safety, quality care and patient satisfaction.
Veteran-Centered Design is a core guiding principle in Huelat Parimucha’s approach to design as it can specifically support the veteran. It is the patient that is the central focus of the design. This means far more than cheerful surroundings and comfortable furniture. It means designing for the experience of what the vet is going through to support positive outcomes. Our design supports the body, mind and spirit of the veteran and his/her family and friends.
Huelat Parimucha Ltd, is a certified member of the Planetree Visionary Design Network. It establishes the firm as a leader and specialist in healing environments through evidence-based design. Planetree has recognized that the firm’s design characteristics, philosophy and their core components of healing design are in accordance with their organization: welcoming a patient’s family and friends, valuing human beings over technology, enabling patients to fully participate as care partners and fostering a connection to nature and beauty. This certification positions Huelat Parimucha to stand ready to assist in the VA initiative to embrace Planetree’s model of care through design.
In addition to past work in master planning, programming and schematic design engagements with the VA, Huelat Parimucha Ltd., Healing Design is currently in the process of defining a variety of projects with DVA in the Northeast and Southeast United States.
