A Healing Environment for Security

Planning for the worse case scenario, while designing to reduce stress in an Emergency Environment. The new emergency room is being planned to accommodate mass causalities in the DC Metro area in case of an act of terrorism or natural disaster. ER One is to be a Prototype model, which will be linked to other like models in other major cities across the nation.

The design challenge – design a facility that can accommodate mass causalities while providing a calming healing environment to reduce stress. The project is currently in the early design stages. Some of the design concepts under consideration are aquarium walls that are ideal for blast mitigation as well as providing a soothing positive distraction.

Communication, Education & Training will be central to the facilities success. Soothing guided imaging walls will be featured that can quickly converted to command centers to provide the latest information.

This project is being developed with a large team of experts from the Federal Government, four architectural firms, specialist in blast mitigation and bio-terrorism.

Huelat Parimucha Ltd, Healing Design is providing the “healing environment” consultation for the interior design of this new generation of emergency prepardness.
