The National Naval Medical Center: floor plan.

National Naval Medical Center

Birthing Center Planning Services
Bethesda, Maryland

The National Naval Medical Center project posed unique challenges for the design team: renovate the 6th floor of a existing 88 x 500’ building for a birthing center to be used by three branches of the military (Navy, Army, & Air Force) while keeping all engineering systems in act. The project was then executed as a design/build.

The National Naval Medical Center: patient room.

Planning services included a Cesarean/Delivery Suite, obstetrical Nursing Unit with low and high-risk LDRP rooms, a Neo-Natal Intensive Care Unit a High-Risk Diagnostic Unit.

Using a preliminary space program as a starting point, several all day planning sessions were held with all commissioned and non-commissioned officers that would ultimately work on the floor.
